Arabati Baba Teќe
Konak (musafirhana)
Tetovo, Macedonia
This residential building (musafirhana means hostel) accommodated guests at the teќe, and it is notable for the exuberant wood construction of its wing with chardak. The chardak is supported by angled members bearing on the vertical posts of the smaller ground floor. Panels of planks with spindles and railings above fill the intervals between the tall posts that rise to support the overhanging roof, its edge carried on angled wooden braces. This residence may have been founded by Abdurahman Pasha in the 18th century. (photo 1988)
