Skopska Crna Gora
Čučer, Macedonia
This large farmhouse represents the vernacular dwelling type of the Skopska Crna Gora district: a rectangular structure with fieldstone walls stabilized by horizontal courses of wooden reinforcement, with wood-framed openings, and an open wood-framed gallery on the upper level oriented to sun and view. The upper floor walls are built with unfired brick. The shallow hip roof is clad with clay tiles. The lower level(s) house animals and provide spaces for storage, with living quarters above. Similar structures lie beyond.
