Deteriorating Traditional Urban Dwelling
Orahovac (Rahovec), Kosovo
Orahovac (Rahovec) is a town within the municipality of Đakovica (Gjakova) in western Kosovo. The town was settled during Roman times and once produced wines. Many of the older narrow cobblestone streets have been replaced and the 19th century dwellings overcome by numerous renovations. This dwelling still shows the masonry walls with wood reinforcing levels, the heavy timber column and beams, and the projecting sitting area to the street.
