Kula B. Hajdarija, view from village street
Dečani/Junik, Kosovo
This kula (kulla) is in Dečani (Decan), southwest of Istinić and close to the Albanian border. This region is referred to as Metohija in Kosovo and Dukagjin in Albania. The projecting masonry along the street can be found on such dwellings that border public pathways. It appears that the ashlar (dressed stone) quions at the curved corner of the wall have been removed. The uppermost level contains window openings and a wooden projecting area for seating with an area for sleeping in an adjacent space; the roof extends beyond the wall to shade these elements.
