House of Osdautaj family
Kula Osdautaj (Kulle e Osdautajve), view at entry
Istinić, Kosovo
The traditional kula (kulla) dwelling in this region typically has its entry to the upper living level by an exterior stair within the family compound. This dwelling has been dated to the 19th century. The projecting element at the uppermost level indicates the open-air veranda (dyshekllak) on the men's floor, and has built-in perimeter seating. In other kulas this projecting area is sometimes built of wood. This structure has been subsequently renovated and serves as a museum.
