Istinić, Kosovo
Istinić (Isniq) is a village close to the borders of Montenegro (Crna Gora) and Albania and near the city of Peć. The traditional kula (tower) dwelling typically occurs within a compound and serves as a fortified dwelling with spaces for animals on the ground level and housing for the inhabitants above. The projecting element on the left is a dry closet for hygiene. The top floor is reserved for men and their guests. This type of dwelling is common in Albania and in mountainous areas where family or clan feuds are common.
