Village center from farm
Vrontero, Greece
The village of Vrontero is also known as Vrondero and Graždeno by the different ethnic groups who lived there in its recent history. The village is in western Macedonia between the Great and Small Prespa Lakes. It is located near the ancient site of Ereipia Pyxos where ruins still exist. The village was deserted during various wars of the 20th century, and resettled and built up during the 1950s by Vlach people. Many of the dwellings and farm buildings were rebuilt on the foundations of much older structures. The village inhabitants still raise and tend sheep and goats. (photo 2004)
