Traditional Čardak Dwelling
Lukavec, Croatia
This čardak is located below the road and appears to have four major support beams that carry the raised living floor and three beams to support the loft space under the gabled roof. A coping is placed at the loft level but not at the major floor level where the entire upper wall appears to project beyond the plank wall that forms the ground level interior. The window framing of the main living space appears to minimize the structural support of the beam above. (photo 1988)
