Čardak dwelling from field
Letovanić, Croatia
Letovanić is another village beside the Kupa River near Petrinja. This modest čardak dwelling has single rather than the more common paired windows on the principal elevation. Its small scale emphasizes the large interlocking timbers of its wall construction and the ends of larger wooden beams that run the long dimension of the dwelling. The projecting upper floor is typical of the region's čardaks.
