Traditional Wooden Granary (Ambar) from rear
Grubišno Polje, Croatia
The granary is built of wood framing and bracing, with plank infill to enclose the walls. The diagonal members stablize the structure while strengthening the chambers that hold the grain. The chamber walls are constructed using integral posts to reinforce the horizontal members and reduce the spans of these members. Vertical planks above sheathe the roof's gable ends.
