Slaveikova kăšta
Slaveikov house
Tryavna, Bulgaria
Built in the early 19th century in the Gorna mahala (uptown) neighborhood, this house faces Bulgaria's best preserved National Revival street, named after its famous resident, the poet Petko R. Slaveikov. A gated side passage leads to its courtyard, where the house opens to a garden. A stair leads to the upper floor čardak and main interior rooms. The construction is a combination of stone masonry and wood frame and white-rendered infill, with stone slate cladding for the low sloped hipped roof.
