Gložene, Bulgaria
The Gložene monastery is located in the Stara Planina (Balkan) mountain range in the municipality of Teteven. It is said to be founded in the 13th century by a prince George Glož from Kiev. Monastery records indicate it may have been founded in the 16th century since laymen were transcribing religious manuscripts there by the end of that century. The current perimeter residential and monastic complex dates from the mid-19th century and the church was rebuilt in the 20th century after a serious earthquake damaged the 16th century church.
