Kăšta na Gana Kadieva (Gana Kadieva house), view from street
Boženci (Bozhentsi), Bulgaria
This two-story dwelling has a shop on the left side of the ground level. Entrance to the house is from the right side at the rear, with access to two lower-level spaces (kăšta and soba). The house has two more hearth-rooms connected to living rooms above, so perhaps a 3-apartment (3-family) dwelling. The corridor that separates the upper floor quarters opens to a small raised odŭr, or chardak, enclosed in wood with a glazed bay that projects at the center of the main façade. In 2000 this dwelling served as a retreat for a Bulgarian musicians' guild. (photo 2000)
