Chapel of Sveti Nikolas
Northwest Corner Details
Jelićka, Bosnia
The large oak sill members and the stepped interlocking joints reveal the massive size of these members. Along the north and south walls, the timber members were joined together, along the wall lengths, in order to assure that the course dimensions could be maintained. Matching cuts were used in these areas and iron hardware was istalled to stabilize these joints. Upper interlocking members vary in heights creating an interesting jointwork texture.
