Traditional Dwelling, Čardaklija
Donja Koprivna, Bosnia
Donja Koprivna is a village within the muncipality of Cazin. This two-storey house was a type common in northwestern Bosnia. It was built using wooden frame and plank construction on the ground level and timber frame walls and roof frame above. The upper storey was constructed using infill planks or wattle & daub with a coat of plaster to protect the construction. The steep hipped roof profile with wooden shingles is typical of the dinaric building form and detailing. The ridge timber is decorated with a crescent and star indicating the muslim family lived within. (photo 1988)
