Farm Outbuilding (Ambar & Kotobanja) from entry court
Straža, Vojvodina
Within one farm compound in Straža (a village near Vračev Gaj), this ambar and kotobanja structure includes a gateway opening to fields and gardens beyond. The small gardens (baštica) in the court were often kitchen gardens. The corncribs at the upper level of the outbuilding are formed with open horizontal wooden lathwork. The enclosed portion on the upper left served as a granary (ambar). The two projecting balconies provide spaces for occupants to sit, work and oversee the court and its gardens.
