Kupinovo, Vojvodina
This house shows the settlement pattern imposed by Austrian authorities on new development in Vojvodina after their takeover in the late 18th century. This house shares many similarities in form with the older Putnik house in Kupinovo, but here the gable end faces the street and the arcaded elevation the enclosed farmyard. Interior rooms are accessed from the arcade, with the main room facing the street. The wall construction of the house is of soft brick or tamped earth, with wood reserved for framing elements and decorative plasterwork applied to the end gable. (photo 1987)
