Village street, dwelling with courtyard and ambar
Ašanja, Vojvodina
Ašanja is a village in the municipality of Pećinci in the Srem District of southwestern Vojvodina. The farm compound pictured combines the three elements of a regional settlement pattern, of house and granary framing a farmyard, with building end gables facing the street. A gateway for vehicles opens to the yard, and doorway opens to the house and its arcaded gallery. Brick or bondruk construction is used for walls, with timber framing for the tile-clad roofs.
