Mansion with gable porch
3 Kadiyoran Caddesi
Princes' Islands, Büyükada, Turkey
The bourgeois Princes' Island mansions suited a modernizing society with western tastes in clothing, furniture, uses of space, and social patterns (leisure pursuits). The mansions were outwardly pretentious and eclectic in style. This relatively compact dwelling shows the decorative woodwork typical of the island architecture. The original owner is unknown. This is a restored mansion rebuilt in 1982 after a fire.
