Zeyrek is a poor district of Istanbul and its derelict wooden houses provided affordable shelter for newcomers from Anatolia, but programs to upgrade these neighborhoods and restore old houses to meet conservation guidelines have resulted in gentrification. This narrow street shows a mixture of run-down and restored houses.
