The rail of the long covered porch incorporates a raised edge supported by brackets, likely for sitting. This upper level of the dwelling contains the living spaces, and the enclosed rooms to the right in this view are more suited to colder weather. The ground level, open to the courtyard, would house animals and provide storage spaces. The toilet wing projects beyond the courtyard wall.
