Traditional dwelling 1 with porches
Imecik (İmecik), Turkey
Imecik is a small village in the Korkuteli district of Antalya province in the Bey Daǧları range of the Taurus montains. Inhabitants of this highland area historically raise and herd sheep and goats, and practice some agriculture. The oldest traditional dwellings are constructed of thick stone walls reinforced with wooden rails and upper floors and roofs are supported by wooden beams covered with planks and packed toppings or tiles. The ground level interiors serve as barns (ahır) with earthen floors and the upper level provides rooms (odalar) for living and sleeping. (photo 2000)
