Çardak, Dwelling 1 from upper lane
Akşahap, Turkey
The çardak (ayazlık) is topped with trellis members that serve as a structure to support the climbing vines of the adjacent plants. The wooden deck of the upper level is supported by wood joists that rest on beams attached to the lower posts. Extension posts attach to the lower posts to provide the height needed to support the trellis overhead. The çardak structure upper level is entered through the projecting wooden framed section of the dwelling and braced to it with narrow struts. (photo 2000)
