Wooden Barn, mortised post and bracket details
Dolenjci, Slovenia
The bracing elements are carefully mortised to provide excellent mechanical connections to the columns and beams. The non-parallel sides of the brackets insure that the bracing members will not retract from their positions once inserts into the mortises cut into the columns. Wooden pegs are also in place to secure the joint. The wood used is typically oak (hrast).
