Manastir Pokajnica, wooden church
Pokajnica, Serbia
Pokajnica Monastery is located in the municipality of Velika Plana, southeast of Belgrade. The crkva pokajnica (church of the redemption) was built in 1818 by the region's new duke for the local people, following the Second Serbian Uprising. Its entrance porch was added in 1880. The oak plank building sits on a sandstone foundation, with a steeply pitched roof with eaves that substantially overhang the walls. A four-posted bell tower is located to the west of the church, as is a small residential building.
