Konak, Manastir Sveta Trojica, wooden trem and doksat (čardak)
near Markovica, Serbia
This small konak is only slightly larger than ordinary regional farmhouses, to which it is similar in form and construction. The ground level is built of stone, as is the up-hill end of the full building, while the remaining upper level appears to be mainly of bondruk (frame-and-infill) construction, with exposed timber reserved for the semi-enclosed trem and doksat, seen here. The two chimneys indicate that more than one interior room is heated.
