Wooden čardak from lower field
Brezna, Serbia
Like other freestanding chardaks found in this part of Serbia, the construction is of wood, horizontal planks at the lower level and frame with vertical boards as infill above. The upper level extends beyond the ground level on one side to make space for a steep connecting stair. The roof is clad in clay tiles. The lower level often contained barrels of plum brandy to serve to visitors.
