Manastir Gračanica
Gračanica (Graçanicë), Kosovo
The Gračanica monastery is an important center of Serbian religion and culture datng back to the 14th century. This exceptional cultural site, within the municipality of Priština, is inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List. The Crkva Blagovesti (church of the Annunciation) dates from the early 14th century, although damaged by fire in that century, and wars of the 17th century. Numerous konaks (residences) for monks were created over its history. The front of this konak faces west to the church and the rear has open wooden galleries facing small gardens. (photo 1988)
