Gloženski manastir (Glozhene monastery)
courtyard with porch and čardak
Gložene, Bulgaria
Within th gated complex the konak buildings appear surprisingly small. This entrance porch is framed in wood while the building beyond appears to be of plaster-coated masonry. The monastery held incunabula in Ukranian dating from the 16th century and served as a refuge for noted monks and priests at odds with those in power during its history.
