A deep recess in the southern konak wall contains the stairway to the upper gallery. A single wooden column with wide bolster supports the gallery edge spanning this recess while a shorter post with bolster supports lower beams, post, upper bolster, and diagonal members to support the area behind. Important frescoes decorate the walls on both sides of this opening.
