Straw dwelling structures in landscape
Ribari, Herzegovina
Ribari is a small village on the Zalomska River, between Nevesinje and Gacko in eastern Herzegovina. It is within the Republika Srpska portion of Bosnia & Herzegovina on the border between the Nevesinje and Kalinovik municipalities. The straw structures were still in use when we visited the area. Stories speculate that the Zalomska (Zalomka) River, which sinks at Nevisinjsko Polje, travels underground and is the source of the Buna River in Blagaj.
