Shtëpi me çardak
(Dwelling with raised porch)
Liqenas, Albania
Liqenas, officially known as Pustec, is a village near Lake Prespa and occupied by minority Macedonians. It lies within Prespa National Park. This two-story, symmetrically-composed house is similar to dwellings in the Prespa regions of Albania, Macedonia, and Greece, and notable for the central projecting porch, built of wood and called a çardak, which faces a garden. The walls of the house are built of stone interlaced with bands of wood and inset with wood-framed windows, and its shallow-pitched, hipped roof in clad with clay tiles. (photo 2015)
