Çardak interior
Krujë, Albania
The çardak is a summer gathering space open to fresh air, and an intermediate common space leading to other more refined interior rooms. Built-in perimeter seating, carpets and textiles, and decorative clerestory openings provide comfort to this space. The high, glazed windows provide daylighting for the room when cold or inclement weather requires that the shutters remain closed.
