Krujë, Albania
Krujë is a mountain town and municipality that reaches the Adriatic Sea; it was inhabited during Illyrian times and became the center for the 15th century nobleman Skanderbeg (Gjergj Kastrioti) who lead resistence against the Ottoman Empire. The town grew to surround a high citadel and a number of late Ottoman period dwellings survive. The dwelling built for Ismail Pashe Toptani in 1764 sits in a walled compound and was constructed of stone with timber floors, roof structure and upper level framed walls that face southwest.
